A 33 year old James Leroy Evans bought his way out of Thurston County Jail Wednesday (4-13), to the sum of $50,000. Why was his bail so high, you ask? Don’t worry, it was well deserved; many would say not nearly enough.
Thanks to a helpful tip, Evans was arrested last Sunday, 4-10-2016 – for the… RAPE and MURDER of a young service dog.
On March 22, a mountain biker found the dog hanging from a tree on Department of Natural Resources property near Summit Lake. The dog was alive when it was hung.
A biker discovered the puppy, named Diamond, hanging from the tree on March 22. Scratch marks from where the dog had struggled were evident at the scene. A veterinarian later revealed the dog had been severely sexually abused. The official cause of death was asphyxiation (Fox News).
Unbelievably, it gets worse. Diamond (above right) was an emotional support service dog for an 8- year old little boy. As fate would have it, the pup was under Evans’s (above left; relative of the owner) care while she looked for housing that permitted dogs.
Diamond was a 3- year old Pit Bull mix working as a therapy dog and emotional companion for the owner’s 8- year old son. Prior to her violent death, Diamond had been staying with Evans for about 4 days while her owner sought animal- friendly housing.
Family members admitted to knowledge of Evan’s ‘explosive personality’ and ‘severe anger problems’, but had no idea he was capable of murdering animals- and what’s worse- a Child’s Service Dog. To top it off, he not only killed the poor animal, but severely tortured it before the hanging.
Veterinary necropsy revealed the dog had been aggressively sexually assaulted prior to hanging. Diamond passed by way of asphyxiation, but was alive when hung.
“I believe that Mr. Evans had stated that he felt like he was doing the right thing by putting her down. I don’t think he understands that the law is the law and that’s not a humane way to do it.” -Thurston County Animal Control Officer, Erika Johnson
What Great Offense Did Diamond the Service Dog Commit?
Why did he admittedly torture and hang the dog? Because it supposedly killed his pet iguana.
“What this man allegedly did to Diamond is unspeakable; she suffered tremendously before she died. This person is a danger to animals and people. This will forever be a case that is burned into my mind and my heart” -animal right’s group, Pasado’s Safe Haven, lead investigator
A public memorial service for Diamond is being arranged with combined efforts of Thurston County Animal Shelter, Pasado’s Safe Haven, and the surrounding community as a whole. Visit their Facebook page for more details.
Sign the petition, ‘Justice for Diamond‘, and help make sure this monster- James Leroy Evans, currently free on bail, is thrown back in jail where he belongs.
J. Evan’s is scheduled to appear again in court, in just a few short days. Hopefully for the final time (or not, depending on how you look at it).
I think it is a point of professionalism that personal beliefs not be allowed to dilute objective journalism, but this isn’t the act of a human being. In my book, raping, torturing, and violently murdering a young dog, regardless whether or not that dog just happens to be an emotional support animal for a troubled little boy, is no different than raping, torturing, and murdering a young human child (I realize my personal beliefs may be a tad extreme).
I don’t believe this monster is fit to breathe the same air we do, and should promptly be put down. Much like the 1.3 million plus completely healthy dogs in the United States annually, simply because we lack the resources for their care.
All this to contribute to the money making monster that is the pet industry, and- in the end- so the politicians that run our country can continue to profit. But that is beside the point.
If you would like, share Diamond’s Story via the many social media buttons above/below, or your own social media accounts; James Leroy Evans has proven himself not fit to share the company of free humans a moment longer, let alone animals.
